Periodontology

Healthy gums. Stable teeth. Treatment that makes a difference.

Oral health starts at the foundation

Understanding periodontitis — explained calmly and clearly.

What is periodontitis?

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of the structures supporting the teeth. It is caused by bacteria that accumulate over time in dental plaque along the gumline.

It often begins inconspicuously — a little gum bleeding, slight recession. Many people do not take it seriously.

If these deposits are not removed regularly, bacteria migrate deeper beneath the gum margin. There they cause an inflammatory response that, over time, can affect not only the gums but also the jawbone.

Why treatment matters

Because periodontitis usually progresses without pain, it is often detected late. If the inflammation persists, it can spread deeper and weaken the support of the teeth.

However, it concerns more than your teeth alone: scientific research shows that untreated periodontitis can also affect general health — for example, the cardiovascular system or existing diabetes.

Timely treatment therefore protects not only your teeth but your entire body.

Good to know: Periodontitis often progresses without pain for a long time. Regular check-ups are therefore particularly important — we detect changes early.
Woran Sie eine Parodontitis erkennen

Often it is small changes that point to inflammation.

Bleeding gums
Regular bleeding when brushing or using dental floss.
Bad breath
A persistent unpleasant taste or odour in the mouth that remains despite good oral hygiene.
Zahnfleischrückgang
Teeth appear visually longer as the gums slowly recede.
Lockerung der Zähne
A changed feeling when chewing, or teeth that no longer feel as firm as before.
Swelling or pus
Red, tender or swollen gum tissue.
Not every sign means periodontitis

It is worth looking more closely. If you notice one or more of these signs, we should examine the situation together. The earlier we act, the simpler the treatment.

The path to healthy tissue

Step by step — structured and easy to follow.

Behandlungsschritt
Modern, gentle and individualised

We understand that gum treatments can be a source of concern.

Gentle methods
Using modern ultrasonic technology and precision instruments, we clean the gum pockets with great care.
Supportive laser therapy
On request, we use laser technology. The laser light disinfects the pockets effectively and supports faster healing.
Individual focus
Every patient is treated individually. We take time to answer your questions and adjust the pace of treatment to your comfort.
Pain-free treatment
Every procedure is carried out under precise local anaesthesia, so you feel no discomfort during the session.
Our commitment: A calm and empathetic environment is standard at our practice. We plan every step with your comfort in mind.
Langfristiger Erfolg durch die richtige Nachsorge

Successful treatment is the first step — aftercare secures the result.

Supportive Periodontal Therapy (SPT)
We support you with a structured aftercare programme. At regular intervals, we monitor the condition of your gums and professionally clean the affected areas.
Tailored intervals
Aftercare appointments are flexibly adjusted to your individual needs and healing progress.
Home care
We show you exactly how to care for your teeth and interdental spaces to prevent new inflammation.
Security for your teeth
By combining professional care with your home routine, we ensure the long-term preservation of your natural teeth.
Transparency builds trust

We inform you openly about all costs — before treatment begins.

The cost of dental treatment depends on the diagnosis, complexity and chosen materials. Patients with statutory health insurance are entitled to co-payment-free basic care. Higher-quality options beyond this are available under an additional cost agreement.

We aim to present all options clearly and transparently. Together, we decide which solution is medically appropriate and right for you. You will receive a clear cost overview before any treatment.

Statutory insurance coverage (GKV)

Statutory health insurance covers the cost of systematic periodontal treatment: diagnosis, deep cleaning of gum pockets and structured aftercare (SPT) for two years. This requires a confirmed diagnosis and an approved treatment plan.

Private services

Supplementary procedures that increase comfort or accelerate healing — such as laser therapy or specialised microbial testing — are private services. Professional dental cleaning (PZR) as pre-treatment may also be a private expense.

Individual cost plan

Before treatment begins, we prepare a transparent plan for you. This allows you to make a calm decision with full cost certainty.

Frequently Asked Questions about Periodontitis Treatment
Does treatment hurt?
With modern local anaesthesia, treatment is pain-free. We also take a particularly gentle approach. After the session, a slight feeling of tightness may occur, which typically resolves quickly.
Is periodontitis curable?
Periodontitis is a chronic condition. It cannot be "cured" in the traditional sense, but it can be permanently brought under control. With the right therapy and aftercare, your gums can remain stable and healthy.
How long does treatment take?
Active therapy typically takes place over two to three appointments, each lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes. This depends on the extent and severity of the inflammation. Regular aftercare is essential for long-term success.
Does insurance cover the costs?
Statutory health insurance covers the cost of medically necessary basic therapy and two years of aftercare. Additional services such as laser therapy or professional cleaning prior to treatment are usually borne by the patient.
Can I keep my teeth?
Yes — that is the goal of modern periodontology. Even teeth that already show slight mobility can often be stabilised again through consistent treatment and aftercare.
What can I do myself?
Careful daily oral care — especially of the interdental spaces — and regular check-ups are essential. We show you which tools and techniques work best for you.
